What is PenSpinning?

PenSpinning usually is related to the spinning of a pen with your fingers or on your hand. It is similar to Twirling, but a pen is lots smaller than a stick, which makes PenSpinning more difficult, i.e. you need more flair, practice and patience. The pen does not leave the fingers during PenSpinning (except for Aerials), which is why PenSpinning belongs to contact juggling. PenSpinning primarly is common between students and scholars, because this contact juggling often is associated wrongly with boredom in school lessons.

There are several hundreds of different tricks and trick variations and there are new ones being invented again and again. The initial difficulty is - else than most people think - not to master as many tricks as possible, but to link them with each other smoothly. Whenever one links several tricks, you refer to a (mini-)combo.

If you like to get to know PenSpinning, you should watch some videos in our gallery and then start with the first trick, the "ThumbAround". For sure you can find a tutorial to it in our tutorials-section. If you have problems while practicing or any questions concerning PenSpinning, feel free to register in our board and to ask.

The whole Swiss PenSpinning Community wishes you all the best!
There are four tricks which are called the basic tricks, because most other tricks are similar to them and can be mastered easily only with the knowledge of the basic tricks, namely: ThumbAround, Sonic, Charge and FingerPass. The FingerPass is very easy to understand and learn, only smoothness cannot be achieved with ease. In order to learn the other three basic tricks, here are some tutorials:

- ThumbAround
- ThumbAround reverse
- Sonic
- Sonic reverse
- Charge
- Charge reverse

The tricks you want to learn after you've mastered the basics can be chosen in any way. However, we highly recommend you to learn the following tricks first:

- Twisted Sonic
- Inverse Sonic
- Infinity
- BackAround
